You've found Kristin Heinemeier, doing business as "Realized Energy Solutions."

I am an energy engineer and consultant, with over 30 years of experience in program evaluation, behavioral and HVAC technology research, and stakeholder engagement, applied to energy efficiency programs, policies, best practices, and technologies. I am a licensed mechanical engineer and ASHRAE Fellow.

My work history includes positions with national labs, academic institutions, private industry, non-profit organizations, local governments, and community-based organizations. Throughout the seemingly random walk of my career, I have focused on the need to recognize and respond to the way that buildings work in the real world, by:

• creating human systems that leverage technology to deliver both energy services and energy savings, and 

• cultivating new solutions built on empowerment and accountability by engaging in creative collaborative processes.

I am drawn to the gap between the way we think building systems work (like adaptive model based supervisory air conditioner control systems with fuzzy logic discrimination) and how they work in the real world (like overworked building operators with wire cutters). 

I deal with both commercial and residential buildings, and have a particular specialty in behavior, HVAC performance (commissioning, diagnostics), delivery (code compliance, building operators and contractors), and evaluation (measurement of savings, net-to-gross, process).

I have unique skills in verbal and written communication (including stakeholder engagement and facilitation), research design and implementation, grant-writing, framing of issues in new and intuitive ways, and data collection (qualitative and quantitative) and analysis. I think best outside the box.

Realized Energy Solutions is a certified small and woman-owned business enterprise located in California. I am currently looking for opportunities to participate in research, program evaluation, or program design.
